Traits for Bad Parenting
Am I a Good Parent?
Despite the deep love and attachment of parents for their child, children can suffer because of parental education mistakes.
No parent is perfect but some are bad and some others are really horrible. To be honest, some would even deserve to be stopped! If you wonder what makes someone a bad parent, we have a guide for you:
Lax Education
Many parents see lax education as the essence of a free spirit. It can be nice to behave this way from time to time, but not all the time. Children need boundaries, rules and restrictions. Parents who let their children do what they want do not serve them. A lax education can also manifest itself by neglecting to go to the doctor or the dentist to do a check-up or always having an empty refrigerator for example.
Another telling sign of this type of child-rearing is the total lack of routine, especially at bedtime. Some parents let their children go to bed at the time they want. Children need a lot of sleep to learn and to function, but there are parents who only get their children to sleep when they are tired. It’s a lazy education.
Violent Routine
Discipline is necessary but spanking monks or shouting at children so loudly that neighbors call the police are signs of poor education. When you discipline them too much, your kids learn to lie or become anxious.
Insults can be just as painful. Never tell a kid that he is unintelligent or any other insult, and keep a calm tone.
The discipline must be based on parental goals. The goal is to teach children self-discipline through certain pedagogy. Discipline should not be a punishment, but should be a form of help that teaches children how to better control themselves.
Distracted Behavior
Parents who are constantly glued to their electronic devices often have children who behave badly to try to get their attention. Some moms will say, “Yes, but it teaches my child to fend for himself,” but that’s not always the case.
Distractions that keep you absent from your child are not good. Of course, you also have needs, but children need to know that they are important. It is therefore recommended to turn off the phones during meals! This is only a civility.
Irresponsible Attitude
When going to the cinema, some parents bring their children to see an adult movie, or even go out in the evening in a bar surrounded by their childhood friends and children. There are places where kids simply do not have to go.
You are a model for your child. Thus, spending too much time at the bar will teach him to go to there. If you constantly put your needs before those of your children, it is a bad education.
