What to Put In the Compost
You can place in the compost:
- Leftovers and peelings of fruits and vegetables
- Damaged fruits and vegetables
- Leftover bread
- Eggshells
- Garden sizes after grinding
- Horse manure
- Tea bags
- The coffee grounds with the filter
- Straw
- Ashes, sawdust and wood shavings
- Nut shells, hazelnuts, peanuts
- Paper tissues
- Wipes them all
- Grass clippings
- Cardboard egg cartons, cut into pieces
- Newsprint, cut into pieces
- Corrugated cardboard and cardboard cut into pieces
- Vacuum bags
- The faded flowers
- The old earth of plant pots
- Weeds not mounted to seed
Do Not Compost
Avoid putting in your compost:
- Sick plants
- Meat, fish, bones and dairy products
- The droppings of domestic animals (dog, cat)
- Non-organic or toxic materials (plastic, metals, glasses)
- Weeds mounted to seed
